When you've sold your pickup and replaced it with a Jeep you have to be creative when taking the leaves to the burn pile. Here is my DH's solution:
Almost 10 bags full of leaves and we still have more that needs to be raked up. He said as he was driving one of our neighbor ladies flagged him down and asked if he could take one of her bags as well. She couldn't see there wasn't any room???? He took it.
Look what was under the leaves:
The daffodils are starting to come up.It seems we have a new neighbor moving in:
A closer look:
Looks like fairies have chosen our garden for their new home.
For those of you where the weather has turned bitterly cold, please take good care and stay safe. Sending some warm thoughts your way.
Til next time, Ronda
You live in the beautiful part of the world! My world is white and cold. Lakes will be frozen until mid-May...
ReplyDeleteThank you. Our winter doesn't last very long, only about 6 weeks and in those weeks we'll have days like today.
DeleteI can't believe that your daffodils are poking through the ground already. wow... how fun to have fairies moving in the garden.
ReplyDeleteI mulch and compost all our leaves but we don't have as much now that we cut down four huge trees in our back yard. It makes a big difference cleaning up leaves quickly. I love your husband's creative way of moving the leaf bags. Spring can't be too far for you.

Hi Julia, Our daffodils will be blooming by late February. Our weather now is probably like your spring.
DeleteHaHa - love the refuse truck. x
ReplyDeleteHe is very creative. I told him he could make more than one trip, that must have been a challenge because he got out the bungy cords and got all the bags on the cart.
DeleteHi Neighbor! Marlene sent me over. I think I'd like to exchange our extremely cold morning with snow falling in Illinois! It sounds like spring is close for you! Enjoy! ~Jeanne
ReplyDeleteHi Jeanne, The only problem with the weather being nice is that I feel guilty if I stay inside and work on my projects. I visited your blog but can't figure out how to follow you. I'm new to this blogging business so I'm probably missing something simple.
DeleteI'm seeing about 6" of green leaves on our daffodils already but I'm sure winter isn't over yet! blessings, marlene
ReplyDeleteThis is only our second spring here and I can't remember when they bloomed last year, I think it was mid to late February. We had a snow storm in March that killed them all so I know we still have some winter left.
DeleteEnjoy those 70s ! We are in the teens here today. brrrrrrrrr
ReplyDeleteNot sure where you live but on the news it says the upper midwest and east are getting the coldest temps of the winter today. Stay safe and warm. Ronda
DeleteWow, that is warm weather!! We still have inches of snow on the ground, but I am thankful for it :-)
ReplyDeleteWe also got rid of our truck a few years ago, we get the creative hauling of things. DH did a good job being neighborly, I hope the lady pays it forward in some way.
We don't get a lot of snow here, we had a dusting in early December but that was it.
