A Good Mother

On our drive around the property the other evening we saw a rabbit in the path in front of us.

This is not unusual but what was unusual is that it didn't run away as we approached. It just stayed in the path.

When we got close it would run down the path a little ways and stop. This happened several times. It even ran over the bridge in front of us and when we turned to go around the lake it finally hopped away into the field. We thought this was strange until on our way back we discovered this:

A baby rabbit on the side of the path. We sat very close to it and it wasn't scared at all. It ate and just hung out with us.

I bet Mama Rabbit gave it a good scolding when she got home! As for Papa Rabbit? We think this is him hanging out on the sport court. It had the same fearless attitude as Baby, Doug was able to walk very close to him.

I thought he was hurt but when Doug got too close Papa got up and hopped away.

We had record setting heat on Mother's Day, it was over 100 degrees. I hope this doesn't mean we're going to have a long hot summer.

My Mom came up for Mother's Day. MM made us pasta, salad, and sliced a fresh pineapple, it was the perfect lunch for such a hot day. He bought a small cake for our dessert.

Hope you had a nice Mother's Day. Ronda

    1. Thanks Wilma. Watching animals is almost as fun as watching people.

  2. Hi Rhonda, that is quite a hoppy story. I'm looking at the rabbits and thinking "rug", ha,ha,ha.
    Have a nice day.

    1. Thanks Julia. I'm thinking about doing a rug with a lot of the critters that live around here. Still working on the design.

  3. I love jackrabbits - we have them here, too. Hope the summer doesn't get too hot too fast - we've been over 100 for the past three or four days. Happy Wednesday, Rhonda - Tanya
