The Ladies, almost finished

I finished the sky on The Ladies and just have a little bit of the grass to finish.

I think I'm going to add a dark line around the whole mat, it should help define it.

I've been working on designing a mat and I can't decide what I want to do. I've had several ideas but none of them seem right. I'm trying to enjoy the process but it's getting frustrating.

Here is my quail pillow, I like the way it turned out:

Our little community is bustling this weekend. The semi-annual Antique and Peddlers Fair is happening in the park.

It is held on Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends. My purchase so far is white enamel pots for dyeing. We'll go back on Monday when everyone is packing up to see if we can get some bargains.

Tomorrow we're going down to Clovis, CA where they are having a Glorious Junk Day. I went last fall and loved the variety of things for sale. Who knows what treasure awaits me?

Hope you're enjoying your Memorial Day weekend.

Til next time, Ronda

  2. I really like how the sky turned out, it has movement and not just flat blue. The hint of color(flowers?) in the grass looks good also.

  3. Your rug looks fantastic and great job on the quail pillow.
I hope that your enamel pot is in good condition. Make sure that your enamel pot doesn't have some chips in the enamel. It will make some spots in your dyed fabric. The exposed metal causes iron to oxidize and spot your fabric.

    Have a safe Memorial Day.

    1. Hi Suzan, thanks for stopping by. Hummm you've given me something to think about, who would I want to walk on? The Ladies is small so it will hang on the wall.

  6. Hi Cathy, welcome to my blog. I'm new to rug hooking and am having fun collecting wool and other equipment. I visited your blog and love the work you've done on your hand cut rug. I'll be following you as well. Ronda

  7. Ronda, the ladies rug has turned out beautiful. I did a different version of it many years ago and it rests at the foot of my bed.
